SQUAD NEWS: Thomas Takes Senior Step
Quorn Football Club have confirmed that young defender Ollie Thomas has signed in time for the Reds’ FA Cup tie with Shepshed Dynamo.
Thomas, who is a sixth form student that lives in the village, took up football at the age of five, joining Barrow Town. On a tour of our most bitter rivals, Ollie then moved to Anstey Nomads, before seeing sense and joining Quorn at the age of 15.
A gifted athlete, also playing Cricket to a high standard, Ollie caught the eye of Player/Manager Ryan Beswick in the Under 18s FA Youth Cup defeat against Matlock Town earlier this week. Thomas also plays for the Reserves, carrying on with the side as they progressed from their historic treble-winning season at Under 23 level in the Notts Senior League Development Division last season.
Reserves Manager, Jonny Handley, who has coached Thomas since he arrived at Farley Way, noted “Ollie has been fantastic for us since he joined from Anstey, and I’m happy to see he is being rewarded for his hard work.” Thomas added “I just want to continue to push myself and progress to get better playing a high standard of football.”
Welcome to Farley Way Ollie.
