SQUAD NEWS: Reds Are Cooking as Former Fox Freddie Signs

Quorn Football Club have signed former Leicester City and Cardiff City academy prospect Freddie Cook.

The young centre half arrives from Stratford Town to bolster Ryan Beswick’s squad as the Reds look to build on their first cleansheet of the season after the 2-0 win at Ilkeston Town on Bank Holiday Monday.

Born and raised in Leicester, Freddie joined his local side Houghton at the age of five before joining  Oadby Owls. It was with Oadby that he came to the attention of Leicester City, spending six years at the Academy before moving to Cardiff City.

“It was an incredible experience, especially playing alongside Aaron Ramsey for the Under 21s.” Since leaving the Bluebirds, Cook had a spell in step two with AFC Telford United, finishing last season at Kirkby Road with Barwell.

Freddie started this season with Stratford Town, before leaving the Bards to join Quorn, where he works at Quorn Hall School as a Teaching Assistant. “⁠After speaking with the management here I thought it was very good move for both parties and it made sense to sign here. I’m hoping to become an established player in this league and push on through the steps, hopefully with Quorn.”
