Quorn meet Shepshed Dynamo in a tasty local FA Cup derby game under the lights on Friday evening.
Quorn’s Form:
The Reds finally clinched their first win of the season by beating Ilkeston Town 2-0 away from home on Bank Holiday Monday. An impressive day that has given a massive confidence boost to the players. Jayden-Samuel Lawrence-Lowther was at the double to secure a massive three points and leaves The Reds only in the relegation zone on goal difference.
The Opposition:
Shepshed Dynamo have had a fantastic start to their season in the Northern Premier League Division One Midlands. The Dynamo sit in third position with ten points from five games. Impressive league wins have come against Long Eaton United 3-2 at home, 1-0 away to Basford United and a 4-0 home win against Carlton Town. They have also beaten Carlton for a second time 3-2 away from home in the FA Trophy. The Dynamo’s last round of the FA Cup ended in a 2-0 home win against Step Five Romulus.
Head-to-Head:
The Reds have an extensive history of playing Dynamo, with the two rivals meeting numerous times over the years. Their most recent competitive encounter came back in The Reds title winning step four season where it ended in a 1-1 draw at The Dovecote. There have been some impressive wins at Farley way including a 4-1 win in the same season on Boxing Day of 2024. Other notable wins include a 1-0 home win in April of 2024 and 2-1 and 3-1 wins in the United Counties Premier Division seven years ago. The only previous FA Cup meeting was won by Dynamo, 2-0 in Shepshed 12 years ago.
One-to-Watch:
Young striker Jack Butterfill is one to keep an eye on. The 22-year-old has scored in the last two games for The Dynamo and is in some good form. Butterfill is a product of the Leicester City academy and has played for the likes of Barnsley, Lincoln United and even had a short spell in New Zealand before joining The Dynamo this summer.
Deja-Vu:
There will be many familiar faces getting reaquainted on Friday evening. Shepshed’s line-up is likely to feature former Reds fan favourite Jack Samples, who made over 120 appearances for the Methodists over the course of four years. Goalkeeper Jake Williams has had three clean sheets in four appearances for Dynamo since his move across the County midway through August. There will also be a familiar face in the away dugout as former Reds Assistant Manager Shaun Wilkes will be Shepshed’s Physio for the evening. Luke Cox and Jesse Friend will also line-up against former teammates, with both having turned out for Dynamo as recently as last season.
