SQUAD NEWS: Laban Loan Move Approved

Quorn Football Club have added step three experience between the sticks with the arrival of Jake Laban on a season-long loan from Harborough Town.

Laban should be well-known to Reds fans, having made several appearances against Quorn over the years, including a 1-1 draw at Farley Way against Anstey Nomads on a dual-registration from Coalville Town. The following year Jake played in both matches for Hinckley LR as the Methodists won the NPL Midlands Division.

Having left Hinckley with the demise of the Leicester Road club, Laban signed with Corby Town, leaving midway through the season when the Steelmen slashed the budget. He then signed with Leicestershire rivals Harborough Town, spending the second half of the season on loan with Rushall Olympic in in the NPL Premier Division.

Born in Derby, Jake still lives in his home county, which is where he came to the attention of Burton Albion, signing with the Brewer’s Academy. Following his release Laban joined the Ravens before that brief interlude with Anstey Nomads and then Hinckley LR. A stint with Corby Town saw Laban follow Manager Gary Stechell to Harborough Town.

“I actually started football as a centre half when I was a kid” revealed Laban, continuing “but I was eventually was put in goal because of my height and probably my lack of ability at centre back, I’ve just carried on from there.”

“I know a few lads already that I was with at Coalville a while back, and having played against Quorn a few times over the years I’ve always been impressed with how the team is organised and everyone knows their jobs.”

“This season I would like to help the team, as much as I can, to achieve the highest finish possible. It’s a tough league, but we all believe we can have a strong first season in the Northern Premier League. Personally I’d like to gain more minutes and experience at this level to help me improve as much as I can.”
