Quorn face Cleethorpes Town in the first home game of the league season. The Reds will be looking to get their first points on the board as the high-flying Owls make a first ever visit to Farley Way.

Quorn’s Form:

After pre-season, The Reds were looking forward to a first trip to Oldham to face Avro FC. A well contested first half saw Ethan Bojang get his first goal for the club and the Reds leading at the break. The second half however saw a comeback that handed The Ro all three points and sent The Reds back to Leicestershire empty handed.

The Opposition:

Cleethorpes will be looking to build on their impressive 9th place finish last season in the Northern Premier League. On opening day, The Owls secured a solid 2-0 win at home to Bamber Bridge. During pre-season The Owls started off with an impressive 0-0 draw against Grimsby Town, before beating Rossington Main 2-0. There was also a narrow defeat to Harrogate Town 1-0 as well as a 6-1-win against Club Thorne Colliery and a 2-2 draw against Grimsby Borough.

Head-to-Head:

There has only been one previous meeting between the sides and it is one that haunts the memories of Reds fans. Ryan Beswick’s side were on the end of a dismal result with the Owls claiming a comfortable 4-0 victory in the FA Cup two years ago. It was one of only four defeats all of that season, with three of them being lopsided results in cup competitions.

One-to-Watch:

Liam Hughes is a 34-year-old attacking midfielder who gained legendary status for Cambridge United amassing nearly 200 games for the U’s, which included helping them back into the Football League. Hughes who has recently joined the Owls has also played briefly in Scotland for Inverness Caledonian Thistle. Clubs south of the border include Guiseley, Darlington, Bradford ( Park Avenue ), Matlock Town and Worksop Town to name a few. His time at Worksop was a successful one with the veteran scoring an incredible 97 league goals in just 142 league games.
