REPORT: Stratford Town 2-2 Quorn
By James Kendrick
Two late goals salvaged a point for Quorn away from home at Stratford Town.
Despite finding themselves two goals behind just after the hour mark, Deen Master and Gus Sanches ensured Quorn came away with a point.
The point keeps Quorn in play off contention with 5 games to go despite dropping out of the top five on goal difference.
The flow of the game was dictated for the most part by the weather, with Stratford making the most of the heavy wind in the first half to pin their visitors back in their own half for large spells with Quorn doing the same after the break.
Stratford took the lead after just 14 minutes when former Walsall defender Kory Roberts found the net when a swirling ball came into the box from a set piece.
And the hosts really could have put themselves further ahead in the first half as they dominated possession and put Quorn under a lot of pressure.
Quorn did come close to scoring on the only occasion they did get forward in the first half but Ryan Beswick’s effort hit the post.
Quorn came out in the second half hoping to use the conditions to their advantage as well as Stratford did but found themselves two goals down just after the hour mark when Owen James nodded the ball in from a cross.
But Quorn pulled a goal back almost immediately through Deen Master who had a tap in from close range.
From then onwards, it was Quorn in the ascendancy as they pushed on looking for an equaliser.
And it came in the 88th minute when substitute Gus Sanches finished well to score his first league goal for the club.
Stratford thought they had a winner a couple of minutes later as they went forward on an attack but the effort hit the side netting.
The point sees Quorn head into Easter weekend in 6th place and there is still a chance that their first ever season at Step 3 still possibly ends with them achieving a play off place.
