With just one point from the last two league fixtures, the Reds have lost ground in the race for the playoffs. Can Quorn get back on track as they host AFC Sudbury in a massive match at Farley Way.
Quorn’s Form:
Despite failing to win in the last two league matches, the Reds have been performing well of late and are still in with a good shot at making the playoffs. After a slow start at home, whilst continuing the incredible form away from Farley Way, Quorn’s fortunes have reversed of late, winning just two of eight away games since Christmas. However, home comforts have boosted the Methodists playoff push and delivered a first County Cup appearance in over a decade. Throughout February and March, Quorn have won all five home games, without conceding a single goal. Those cleansheets came against Barwell in the County Cup semi-final (3-0) and league games against Stamford (2-0), Bishop’s Stortford (1-0), Real Bedford (1-0) and Banbury United (2-0).
The Opposition:
The Yellows have recently changed Manager, and despite a 6-0 reverse away to Kettering Town, they did have a bounce with a 4-2 win at Barwell a couple of weeks ago. That was the Suds’ only win since the 20th of December, when they completed an unlikely league double over Redditch United. An eight game losing streak followed, which was snapped with a 0-0 draw away to Worcester City. However, another bad streak followed, as Sudbury lost six of the most recent seven matches. In 2026, AFC have lost 13 of 15 league games, being outscored 17-47 over that time. Overall AFC Sudbury have conceded 100 goals in 37 league games, scoring 46.
Head-to-head:
There have been two only previous meeting between the sides, with Sudbury’s only previous trip to Quorn 21 seasons ago, when the Yellows defeated the Reds 3-2, knocking us out of the FA Vase in the fourth round. The most recent meeting came early this season, when Quorn made the long trip to Suffolk, returning with all three points in a 4-0 win. Deen Master, Billy Kee, Ryan Beswick and Zak Goodson were all on the scoresheet that afternoon
One-to-Watch:
Youngster Jack Stone is on loan from Southend United, scoring four times in seven matches for the Yellows. A brace in the opening 25 minutes away to Bromsgrove Sporting had Sudbury in a good position, but the Rouslers scored four in the final 30 minutes to take all three points. Two penalties in the Barwell match helped the Suds to a 4-2 victory at Kirkby Road. The forward also scored five goals in 13 appearances on loan at Isthmian League North Division outfit Grays Athletic earlier in this season.
