REPORT: Quorn 3-6 Whitby Town

Quorn fell to a 6-3 defeat at home to Whitby Town in a disappointing second half collapse.

Despite taking the lead, Quorn found themselves again on the wrong side of a result after conceding four goals in 11 second half minutes.

The result sees Quorn still searching for their first win of the season as the end of August approaches.

Quorn started the game strongly and on the front foot and they had a number of chances in the opening stages to try and put themselves ahead.

And it was the home side who took the lead midway through the first half when a wicked deflection saw Jesse Friends shot wrong foot the goalkeeper and end up in the back of the net.

But Quorn gifted their visitors the lead just ten minutes later with two goals in three minutes from Callum Hickman to undo all of Quorn’s good work.

But the teams went in level at the break when Tim Berridge scored with a smart finish in first half stoppage time to send The Methodists in level at the break.

What followed in the second half was a complete collapse from the home side. Four goals in 11 minutes were handed to Whitby with Callum Hickman scoring two more of the four goals.

A goal from Stuart Rose and then an own goal from Ethan Bojang capped off Whitby’s scoring to make it 6-2.

With Quorn rocked by what had happened, they made a triple substitution to try and avoid the situation getting any worse.

Jesse Friend scored his second goal of the game from a corner to avoid it getting worse but Whitby Town went home with all three points in a 6-3 win.

Quorn now have to look to try and bounce back from the defeat on Bank Holiday Monday as they travel to Ilkeston Town.
