NEWS: Appeal Denied

Quorn Football Club can confirm that their appeal against their lateral movement into the Pitching In Northern Premier League Premier Division has been dismissed. The club will not be making a further statement on the matter at this time.

The Methodists 2026/27 campaign will feature 15 new opponents, as well as six that they have met in the past, though only five of them competitively.

Last preseason featured a first meeting with Alfreton Town, the match ending in a 1-1 draw. Three seasons ago, enroute to our best FA Trophy performance, goals from Charlie Marzano, Tyrell Shannon-Lewis and a Courey Grantham brace saw a 4-2 win at home to Leek Town in the third qualifying round. There have also been previous meetings in the Evo-Stik First Division South, with the Staffordshire side completing the double over the Reds in 2011/12. The two sides have met eight times in the league dating back to the 2008/09 season, with the Reds only win coming in 2009 as they secured a 2-0 victory on the opening day of the season.

The Dons have also faced Ilkeston Town across league and cup action, most recently, a 2-1 home defeat in the FA Cup Preliminary Round five years ago. Eight years ago, the two sides met in the Midland Football League Premier Division. Quorn secured a 2-0 win at home, but lost the return match 2-1, also going down to a 3-1 defeat at the New Manor Ground that season in the League Cup Quarter Final. There were also two matches against Town’s forerunner, Ilkeston FC, in the 2011/12 season, with each side winning their respective home games in the Evo-Stik First Division South.

The only meeting with Cleethorpes Town saw a forgettable trip to Grimsby in the FA Cup Preliminary Round two years ago. A first half onslaught from the Owls led to a comfortable 4-0 win. Surprisingly, Quorn met Warrington Town in the Unibond League First Division South back in 2007/08. The Reds lost the home game 2-0 in late August 2007, however, the club don’t currently have a record of the result from the away match, although efforts to fill in more of the club history remain ongoing.

Finally, there was the unforgettable FA Vase 3rd Round match against FC United of Manchester, which was played at Bury’s Gigg Lane home on the 9th of December 2006. Despite being down to nine-men, the highly-fancied hosts had fought their way back to 2-2, and the match looked destined for extra-time. Nigel Julien had other ideas though and scored at the death for a 3-2 win, as the Reds went on to reach the fifth round of the Vase that season, the club’s best ever run in the competition. Keep an eye on the website as we’ll be doing a deep dive on all of our new opponents across the next month.
