FIXTURE NEWS: Poppies Replay Victory Confirms Reds Cup Tie
Kettering Town defeated Wellingborough Town 2-1 at Latimer Park on Tuesday evening to progress to the second qualifying round of the FA Cup and a home tie with Quorn. The two sides met at the same stage last season, but at Farley Way, with the Reds coming out on top, courtesy of a 2-1 scoreline.
Quorn beat Shepshed Dynamo in front of a record crowd on Friday evening, to reach the second qualifying round for the second year in a row, having gone fourteen years without making it this far previously.
The Poppies drew 2-2 at the Dog & Duck on Saturday, before progressing at home a few days later, thanks to goals from Michael Gyasi and Theo Alexandrou. With four goals already at this stage of the FA Cup, Kettering have extended their record as the team with the most FA Cup goals in history with 932.
In all this season, Town have played eight games, winning four and drawing four. The Poppies have scored 13 times and conceded just five goals so far.
