FIXTURE NEWS: FA Cup Draw Sends Reds to Northamptonshire

The Football Association has conducted the draw for the second qualifying round of the FA Cup, handing Quorn an away trip to Northamptonshire to face the winner of the derby between Kettering Town and Wellingborough Town. The two Northants rivals played out a 2-2 draw at the Dog & Duck on Saturday, with the replay set for Tuesday evening at Latimer Park.

The Reds have played the Doughboys five times, winning three and drawing twice. Both of the draws came at the Dog & Duck, with Quorn’s only win in Wellingborough coming in November 2024, as the ten man Methodists overcame a Courey Grantham red card to battle to a late win.

Quorn have fared less well against the Poppies, winning once and losing twice, with all three meetings against Kettering coming last season. The first meeting was at the same stage of the FA Cup, with the Reds winning 2-1 at Farley Way almost exactly a year ago. Following that the Poppies returned to Farley Way in November, winning 2-0 before a 3-1 win in our only trip to Latimer Park back in March, as Ethan Young was sent off in the first half.

With the replay set for Tuesday evening (the 8th of September) details of the fixture will be confirmed later this week, with the tie slated for the weekend of Saturday the 19th of September. Keep an eye on the website & socials for details of tickets closer to the time.
