FIXTURE NEWS: County Cup Semi-Final Draw

The Leicestershire & Rutland County Football Association have conducted the draw for the semi-finals of the County Cup. The Reds have been handed a home tie against league rivals Barwell. It will see a third meeting of the sides this season, with the Canaries seeing the better of the Leicestershire derbies. Quorn hosted first, with Barwell handing the Reds their first defeat of the season, 1-0 on the August Bank Holiday, with Prince Mancinelli scoring the only goal of the game in the 53rd minute.

The return match-up took place at Kirkby Road on the 27th of December. A Mason Frizelle own goal saw Barwell into a 1-0 half-time lead, but goals from Simeon Cobourne and Zak Goodson quickly turned the game in the Reds favour. Quorn looked destined to avenge the earlier defeat, but Kane Richards equalised for the hosts with a little under five minutes to play. Ryan Beswick’s side threw the kitchen sink at Barwell, but couldn’t find a way through despite creating a wealth of chances in the dying moments.

The tie is still to be arranged, with a deadline to complete the semi-finals set for the 30th of April. Keep an eye on the website and socials for details of the match once the schedule is confirmed.
