SQUAD NEWS: Theo Robinson Joins Reds
Quorn Football Club have confirmed the signing of forward Theo Robinson. The former Jamacia international forward arrives Farley Way, bringing vast quantities of experience to the side, having clocked over 650 senior appearances.
Most of those appearances have come in the EFL, however, there was also an appearance in the Premier League with Watford and a spell north of the border with Motherwell. “Playing for Jamaica against Mexico at the Azteca” said Robinson, when asked about his career highlight, continuing that “making my debut in a World Cup qualifier was also pretty special.”
Born and raised in Birmingham, Robinson got the football bug watching his brothers play at grassroots level. Joining local sides himself, Theo quickly came to the attention of Stoke City, joining their Academy before moving south to link up with the Hornets. It was during his time at Watford that Robinson came into his own, earning a contract and making six appearances.
During his time at Vicarage Road, Robinson enjoyed a couple of loan spells, most notably helping Hereford United to promotion as top scorer as they finished third in League Two. Solid seasons in League One with Southend United and Huddersfield Town earned Robinson a move to the Championship with spells at Milwall, Derby County and Doncaster Rovers.
After a stint with Motherwell Robinson signed a short-term contract with National League Lincoln City, scoring both of the "Imps" goals in a 2–2 draw with Championship side Ipswich Town in an FA Cup third round tie at Portman Road. He also scored against Brighton & Hove Albion in the following round, and left Lincoln with the club in the fifth round of the FA Cup and top of the National League.
Theo spent the next six years in League One and League Two, making over 150 appearances with the likes of Southend United, Port Vale and Bradford City. Most recently Robinson has been with Bromsgrove Sporting, where he scored 18 goals in 61 appearances for the Rouslers.
Now, a proud father of two, Theo works for Wolverhampton Wanderers as a coach in their Academy. “I don’t know a massive amount about the club, but the Manager has a good reputation and I like the style of football. I don’t know anyone at the club, but I’m looking forward to my time at Quorn and getting to know everyone. I’m a team player and I’m happy to do whatever’s needed for us to be successful.”
