SQUAD NEWS: Joe Joins Reds

Quorn Football Club are delighted to announce that Hinckley LR Captain Joe Lyne has agreed to make the switch across Leicestershire and join the Reds.

Born and raised in Leicestershire, Joe followed in his Father’s footsteps, getting into football at an early age. His Grandad, despite being on the brink of a heart attack, would regularly participate in garden kickarounds as the young footballer made his way through the junior ranks with the Leicester Road club.

Other than a brief spell with then step two Nuneaton Borough in the 2018/19 season, Joe has spent virtually his entire career with the Hinckley club, making over 300 appearances in the blue and red stripes and helping them to three promotions. However, with the sad demise of Leicester Road over the summer, the time was right to move on.

“I’ve been unbelievably impressed with the club, particularly playing against them at Step 4 over the last couple of years” elaborated Joe, continuing “You can tell there’s a great bunch of lads here who play the game in the right way.”

“A number of my former teammates; Liam Read, Dom Brennan and Simon Alcott, have all been at Quorn in the past, and had nothing but good things to say about all involved, so, having spoken to Ryan I’m excited about the move and can’t wait for the season to start.”

As well as the three previous promotions, Joe was a pivotal part of the Hinckley LR side that made the playoffs in 2023/24. That side beat Quorn in both meetings, finishing fourth in the league and running Market Harborough very close in the playoff semi-finals.

A combative midfielder, Joe is also at home at right back and centre-half, so adds versatility to Beswick’s squad. “I’m here to win battles, win games and support the club to achieve its full potential. Oh, and maybe enjoy it a little bit along the way too!”

Secretary Adam Etheridge noted “Quorn fans are going to love watching Joe in a Reds shirt, he gives 100% effort, 100% of the time, and will fit in nicely with the squad that we already have. I was at Nuneaton Borough with him many years ago, and he’s as nice a person as you could wish to meet off the pitch, and a fierce competitor on it. This is a real coup for the club.”

Welcome to the Stotto Stadium Joe.
