SQUAD NEWS: Defensive Duo Set for Debut

Quorn Football Club have confirmed the signings of defensive duo Rhys Kelly and Sam Warburton, with both going straight into the squad for the trip to Halesowen Town this afternoon.

Warburton is no stranger to the Reds, having signed for the club after a string of impressive performances during preseason. The young defender had earned a step up after helping FCV to the Notts Senior League title in the 2024/25 season. An injury late in preseason against Anstey Nomads curtailed his progress, seeing Sam head out to find minutes as he worked his way back. A couple of dual-registrations followed, with Warburton again catching the eye whilst he was with Grantham Town. That spell led to the cancellation of his Quorn registration as National League Boston United signed him to a contract to link up with their Under 23s. The Pilgrims sent him out on loan to Corby Town, where he scored twice in a six game spell with the Steelmen. Warburton was recalled by Boston United, starting their County Cup tie away to Lincoln United on Wednesday night. The Pilgrims won 3-1, as former Red Luca Alonzi came off the bench to grab a brace.

Kelly has also spent time at Steel Park this season, making 20 appearances in the black and white stripes of Corby Town. The defender joined the Steelmen on loan from Harborough Town at the end of last season, and made the move permanent in the summer. He most recently turned out in step three for our Leicestershire rivals, Barwell.

Welcome to Farley Way Sam and Rhys.
