Quorn Football Club have announced their first summer signing as they prepare for a their debut season in step three. Cieron Keane arrives from Mickleover to bolster Ryan Beswick’s squad with more experience of playing higher level football.

Cieron was born in Nottingham but joined Wolverhampton Wanderers as a junior, where he stayed until being released at 18. The midfielder wasn’t out of work for long and signed with Notts County, where he made two appearances in League One for the Magpies. Keane was sent off 71 minutes into his debut, but still helped his side to 2-1 win at home Colchester United.

Keane then spent five seasons in step two, making almost 200 appearances with Nuneaton Town, Worcester City, Kidderminster Harriers, Alfreton Town, Boston United, Leamington and Bradford (Park Avenue). Since then Cieron’s had spells in step three with Basford United, Stafford Rangers, Gainsborough Trinity, Barwell and Mickleover.

“I played against the Gaffer a few times when I was younger” explained Keane, continuing “although I didn’t know him personally, everybody I know that does know him, or worked under him, has said what a top guy he is. I had a few conversations with him since the end of last season and it was a no brainer for me to sign for him.”

“I know Zak Goodson and Reece Fyfe from playing with them previously, and I’m looking forward to being teammates with them again. From a personal point of view, I want to play as many games as possible and do what I can to help the team. I think finishing in the top half would be a successful first season at step three, and I’m confident that Ryan can deliver another great season for the club.”
