REPORT: Warrington R 1-0 Quorn

Quorn put up a valiant effort but fell to a narrow 1-0 defeat at last year’s defeated play off finalists Warrington Rylands.

All that separated the two teams on the night was a goal after 20 minutes from George Waring.

The result leaves Quorn still searching for their first win of the season having had an extremely tough start to the season.

Quorn made just one change from the side that drew with Redcar on Saturday with Lindon Miekle replacing the injured Billy Kee.

And it was The Methodists who started the game fastest and they should have been ahead after six minutes.

Striker Jayden-Samuel Lawrence-Lowther had a great chance to put the Quorn ahead but his shot crashed off the crossbar and bounced away.

Warrington Rylands made the most of their early life and took the lead after a cross was headed home by George Waring.

In the first half, Rylands played some nice football and they had the ball in the net again shortly before half time but it was ruled out by the referee.

Quorn were by no means out of the game as the second half started but after the break the game was a lot more attritional and long ball as the conditions worsened.

As the half wore on, Quorn had to go for it more and the home side looked to catch them on the break.

But the game petered out towards the end and manager Ryan Beswick was disappointed as he felt his side could have got something from the game but Quorn now have to move onto Lancaster on Saturday as they look for a win.
