REPORT: Quorn 2-2 Gainsborough Trinity

Quorn came away with another 2-2 draw as they hosted Gainsborough Trinity on Tuesday night.

It was their second 2-2 draw in a row but it could have been more when new signing Theo Robinson put Quorn ahead with just over 15 minutes to play.

But Gainsborough fought back to leave both sides with a point.

Just before kick off, Quorn made a presentation to manager Ryan Beswick who was taking charge of his 100th Quorn game.

And Quorn got off to a solid start as they looked to break quickly on the counter attack.

But just after the half hour mark, Gainsborough Trinity took the lead through former Quorn player Ben Blythe.

However, Quorn got the little bit of luck they’ve been lacking just before the break when Peter Abimbola’s effort squirmed under the keeper and into the net.

The second half was a real end to end clash at times with both sides really looking to go and win the game.

Quorn goalkeeper Jake Laban was called into action on a number of occasions and made some good saves.

Before the game, Quorn announced the signing of Theo Robinson and he was involved in the game within a minute of coming on.

The referee awarded Quorn a penalty and Robinson stepped up and sent the keeper the wrong way to make it 2-1.

However, the lead only lasted three minutes when Gainsborough captain Bobby Johnson found himself free in the box to level the game.

The result sees Quorn still searching for their first win of the season but performances have greatly improved with The Methodists now only having lost one of their last four games.
