REPORT: Lancaster City 2-2 Quorn
Quorn battled hard to hold on for a point in a 2-2 draw away at Lancaster City.
The Methodists did leave on two occasions before being pulled back but will consider it a good point after going down to ten men with 15 minutes to play.
The result earns Quorn their second point of the season in five games and keeps them off the bottom of the table.
After nearly three and a half hours on the coach, Quorn named a side that included new signing Peter Abimbola in the heart of midfield.
And the game was open from the start. Both sides set out to win the game and there were plenty of chances.
Inside the opening couple of minutes, Madou Cisse crashed a shot off the crossbar
Just a couple of minutes later, Jake Laban was forced into the first of a number of good saves after a deflected shot was headed for the corner.
But it was Quorn who took the lead after just 6 minutes. Notts County loanee Jesse Friend, on his first start, picked up the ball on the edge of the box and fired the ball into the net.
Quorn should have doubled their lead midway through the half when Jaiden Campbell-Ryce went through on goal but the keeper made a good save.
After going behind, Lancaster looked to work their back into the game and they had the ball in the net just before the quarter of the hour mark but it was disallowed for offside.
And their pressure paid off in the final minute of injury time as Dylan Moonan reacted quickest to a loose ball to tapped home.
The second half followed a similar pattern to the first and once again Quorn took the lead midway through the half.
After dispossessing a defender deep inside his own half, Jaiden Campbell-Ryce ran through on goal and fired home.
However, their lead only lasted 12 minutes as Dominic Lawson was left in acres of spaces to fire home in the box.
Things went from bad to worse for Quorn 60 seconds later when defender Elias Reaney was shown a second yellow card to leave Quorn a man down for the remainder of the game.
Lancaster huffed and puffed and put Quorn under considerable pressure as time ticked down but they couldn’t beat Jake Laban in the Quorn net who made a number of good saves to keep the score at 2-2.
