REPORT: Guiseley 4-1 Quorn
Quorn fell to a 4-1 defeat away at Guiseley in their only league game of the month.
Despite going ahead early on, Quorn were once again undone by their own mistakes leading to a comfortable victory for the home side.
The result sees Quorn remain inside the bottom four as they still look to adapt to life in the Northern Premier League.
Things got off to a great start for Quorn as for the second game in a row, they opened the scoring within the first minute of the game.
Striker Tim Berridge beat the Guiseley goalkeeper to the ball and finished nicely from outside the box to give Quorn a perfect start.
For the ten minutes afterwards, Quorn were the better side and looked like they could go on and get a second.
But once Guiseley had recovered from their early blow they put pressure on the away side and their equaliser felt inevitable.
It came five minutes before the break, as Kallan Murphy scored with an audacious flick as he met a low free kick inside the box to make it 1-1.
And within a minute, Guiseley were ahead. They broke forward and ran through the Quorn midfield and Cameron Wilson was there to put them in front.
Quorn did have a chance to get themselves level just before the interval as a Mason Frizelle header was flicked on by Elias Reaney but the ball hit the crossbar and bounced down onto the goal line and out.
Once again, Quorn started the second half brightly and they did put their hosts under a spell of pressure for the first 10 minutes or so of the half.
However, they couldn’t keep that spell of pressure up for long and things got worse midway through the second half when the referee awarded Guiseley a penalty.
Cameron Wilson stepped up to take it and sent Jake Laban the wrong way to score his second and Guiseley’s third of the game.
And with two minutes remaining another Quorn error summed the game up with Ollie Brown able to capitalise and make it four.
Quorn now look ahead once again to cup competitions with a three week break before their next league fixture.
