The Methodists travel to Cambridgeshire, hoping to bring some much-needed points back to Farley Way following after losing ground in the playoff hunt last time out.
Quorn’s Form:
It was a disappointing loss for The Reds last time out, as Beswick’s side looked to be gaining momentum. A 4-1 loss on the road against playoff rivals, Halesowen Town, saw the Yeltz leapfrog Quorn into the top five. Zak Goodson was able to keep his personal record firing, scoring Quorn’s only goal to make it fourteen for him in the league this season.
Quorn had won their previous two fixtures, a late winner secured the victory at home against Bishop’s Stortford, and a comfortable 2-0 triumph against Stamford helped to keep playoff dreams alive. Despite the tough loss last weekend, the Reds remain in with a chance of securing a playoff place in their first season at step three.
The Opposition:
St. Ives Town are currently on a seven game winless run, including six straight defeats, leaving them with just one point so far in 2026. Their last win was against Real Bedford in December, an impressive 3-1 victory on the road against a side fighting for the title. Bishop’s Stortford was the most recent team to get a result against St Ives, with Cole Dasilva scoring the only goal in a 1-0 win for The Blues.
This has left St. Ives just three points ahead of the relegation zone, making them scary opposition as they look to give everything they’ve got in the closing stages of the season. Those six straight losses includes home defeats by Halesowen Town (4-0), Bury Town (2-1) and Kettering Town (3-1) as well as reverses away to Banbury United (2-1), Stamford (2-0) and the aforementioned loss to Stortford.
Head-to-head:
The two sides met at Farley Way, just three months ago, with Dennis Digie opening the scoring in the fifth minute. Simeon Cobourne added a second before the half hour, but Liam Cross responded immediately to keep the match close. Luke Cox sealed the points late on with a spectacular overhead kick in what was the first meeting between the clubs in almost 13 years.
The Saints had previously visited Farley Way in February 2013, coming back from 2-0 down at half time to snatch a draw as they went on to finish second in the United Counties League Premier Division. The only other meeting was in November 2012, when the Reds visited Westwood Road, winning 3-1 to snap a 14 month home unbeaten streak for Town. Current General Manager Liam Turner scored the third goal that day to seal the win in stoppage time.
One to Watch:
Michael Richens remains the top-scorer for Town, having taken his total to 11 goals in 27 appearances so far this season. Richens is the St. Ives captain and his name carries weight in English football, previously played for Stevenage in League Two.
