Quorn’s first home game of the new year comes against top of the league Spalding United, off the back of a disappointing loss to relegation battlers Stourbridge.

Quorn’s Form:

The Methodists have been having a spot of poor form as of late, not winning in the past three games. Two comprehensive losses, 4-2 to Worcester and 5-0 to Stourbridge, along with a draw away to Barwell, make up this run.

Ryan Beswick’s side's last league win came against Redditch United in early December, a 3-2 Victory at home. A 2-1 County Cup win at home to Aylestone Park the following week had seen the Reds unbeaten in six, but as good as that streak was, the current streak has been quite the opposite. Despite the recent results, Quorn still find themselves in an impressive third place in their debut season in the division.

The Opposition:

Spalding have had a season to remember so far, only losing three games. The last time The Tulips lost was against St. Ives Town, conceding in added time to lose 3-2. Since that loss, Spalding has gone on a eleven game unbeaten run.

The Tulips won what may have been their most important game of the season last time out, beating title challengers Harborough Town 3-1. A massive win for Spalding, who now sit six points clear at the top of the table. After coming seventh in the league last season, Spalding fans have much to be happy about as they find themselves a favourite for promotion.

Head-to-Head:

It was level last time the two clubs played eachother, a 1-1 draw at Spalding's ground earlier in the season. Quorn came back thanks to a goal from Zak Goodson after conceding early on in the match. The game prior to this took place in the summer of 2024, where Quorn beat Spalding in preseason thanks to goals from Cain Noble and, once again, Zak Goodson. Spalding’s last win over Quorn came in the NPL Midlands division back in April of 2024. Spalding scored two late goals to get the best of The Methodists at Farley Way.

One to watch:

After scoring last time out, Bart Cybulski is in fine form, finding the net seventeen times this season. He is currently the joint top goal scorer, along with teammate Jack Roberts.

He is a lethal striker in front of goal, and his height only adds to his threat. Coming from Derby’s youth academy, the forward has made a name for himself in the lower leagues at just 23 years old.

He will need to be monitored closely to ensure Quorn can get a result against the league leaders.
