The Reds will be looking to make it third time lucky as they try to beat Barwell for the first time this season, following a home defeat in August and a draw at Kirkby Road in late December.
Quorn’s Form:
Ryan Beswick’s side saw their four match unbeaten run come to an end on Saturday as they went down to a 3-1 defeat away to Kettering Town. The Reds had taken the lead, and held their own against the Poppies, but a third red card in recent matches left them with another uphill battle, and despite being able to overcome the odds against Bishop’s Stortford and Real Bedford, Quorn couldn’t come out on top this time. Whilst there have been a few heavy defeat on their travels, the Methodists haven’t conceded at home in their past four matches, with victories against Stamford (2-0), Bishop’s Stortford (1-0), Real Bedford (1-0) and Banbury United (2-0).
The Opposition:
2026 has been tough on the Canaries with 11 defeats in 12 matches, stretching back to the 2-2 draw with Quorn in late December. The other result in that stretch was a 2-1 win at home to Stamford, with former Red Tyree Wilson on the scoresheet. Barwell’s current run has seen five straight defeats, starting with a 6-2 loss at home to Halesowen Town. Saturday saw the Leicestershire side take a lead into half-time against AFC Sudbury, but the visitors took over in the second half and came from behind to win 4-2. Other results in the current run are a 1-0 loss at home to bottom side Royston Town, and away defeats against Harborough Town and Worcester City.
Head-to-Head:
Two matches this season have seen the Reds earn just one point from their County rivals in the league. A 1-0 defeat at Farley Way on the August Bank Holiday interrupted an otherwise excellent start to life in step three as Prince Mancelli’s second half goal proved the difference. In the return match on the 27th of December, a Mason Frizelle own goal saw the home side take the lead, but goals from Simeon Cobourne and Zak Goodson turned the tie. Quorn dominated the second half, but Kane Richards equalised against the run of play. The Reds laid siege to the home goal in the closing stages, with Jasper Tetlow hitting the crossbar and Austin Samuels missing some gilt-edged chances as the match finished 2-2.
One-to-watch:
Former Anstey Nomads and Shepshed Dynamo forward Zayn Hakeem has been the inform man for Barwell in recent months, scoring three times in the past eight matches. In total he has scored eight times this season in 34 appearances.
