Quorn face Banbury United in their final pre-season game in what looks set to be another tough test, this time against  a fellow step three side.

Quorn’s Form:

After two tough matches against step two opponents, the Reds showed what they were capable of last Saturday. An entertaining 2-2 draw against Harborough Town saw some good minutes in the tank for the players looking to impress ahead of the new season. Musa Ceesay who signed last Friday opened the scoring before Ryan Beswick’s penalty ensured a positive pre-season run out.

The Opposition:

The Puritans come into this game having played six pre-season games already. The Puritans played out an entertaining  3-2 win against step 4 side Coventry United to kick off their pre-season schedule. Other results included a 2-0 win against Easington Sports aswell as a 1-1 draw to Potters Bar Town and wins against a Northampton Town XI and AFC Rushden & Diamonds. The last pre-season game was on Tuesday with a clean sheet kept against an MK Dons XI in a 0-0 draw.

Head-to-Head:

The Reds are used to facing Banbury having played them twice last season in the league. The last meeting with the Puritans came back in mid-March, where the Reds won 2-0. Last time they travelled to Banbury, the Reds fell to a 3-2 loss in an entertaining game between the two sides.

One-to-Watch:

One player with plenty of experience in the game is Reece Styche. The 37 year old has had a stellar career in non-league. The centre forward has played for the likes of Hednesford Town, Tamworth, Kidderminster Harriers, Hereford, Macclesfield and Nuneaton Town. Styche had a brief loan spell with Wycombe Wanderers in league two in 2014. He also represented Leicestershire based clubs Coalville Town and Shepshed Dynamo amongst many other clubs during his career. Styche has scored 45 goals in 175 National League games and 50 goals in 127 National League North games as well playing international football for Gibraltar. In 31 matches for “Los Llanis”, Styche scored three international goals, including one against Switzerland in a Euros qualifier.
