Quorn face off against an Alfreton Town side, sat just four points outside the playoffs, under the lights in a massive Friday night fixture. In what hopes to be a bumper crowd with lots at stake, the Reds are looking to extend their unbeaten run in the league to seven games.
Quorn’s Form:
Saturday was a great spectacle for Reds fans in attendance. The Methodists made it six unbeaten in the league with a 3-2 win against Warrington Town to move four points clear of the relegation zone. Goals from Terell Pennant, Luke Shaw and Finlay Tunstall looked to have put the game to bed, however, a late comeback from The Yellows wasn’t quite enough as The Reds managed to hold on for another impressive three points. Quorn now sit fifth in the form table. The Reds good form in the league has seen manager Ryan Beswick nominated for the Northern Premier League Premier Division Manager of the Month.
The Opposition:
Alfreton Town secured their place in the next round of the Derbyshire Senior Cup on Tuesday evening, beating Belper Town 1-0 at home. Alfreton beat Emley 2-1 in the league last weekend to continue some good form which also included wins against Mickleover in the FA Trophy and league draws against Warrington Town and Ashton United.
Head-to-Head:
The Reds have never met Town in a competitive match before. The only previous meeting was a pre-season friendly in August of 2025, at Alfreton, which ended in a 1-1 draw. Zak Goodson scored from the penalty spot that afternoon and is set to make his return to Farley Way on Friday evening, having left Matlock Town last week.
One-to-Watch:
One to watch, and someone who will be very familiar to Reds fans, is the former Quorn Captain Reece Fyfe. Reco, as he is more commonly known, departed Farley Way as a Reds legend making 141 appearances for the club. He first started as a youth player before making the move to Basford United. Reco would go onto play for Heanor Town, Ilkeston Town and Gainsborough Trinity before returning to Basford. Reco then moved onto Long Eaton United and Ilkeston Town before his return to Farley Way where he established himself as one of the premier midfielders in the area over a four-year period with some stunning goals and eye-catching appearances. Reco made the move to Alfreton to be closer to home this summer.
