NEWS: Awards Night Winners
Quorn Football Club closed the book on a remarkable 2024/25 with their end of season awards night on the 10th of May. The event was hosted by Ian Stringer, formerly of BBC Radio Leicester, and featured entertainment courtesy of guitarist/singer Tom Hall.
Following a two-course meal, courtesy of MP Catering, the awards got underway, with the hotly contested Goal of the Season. Reece Fyfe’s incredible strike at home to Racing Club Warwick entered the fray too late to impact the voting, but his stunning free kick against Coventry Sphinx made the top three. Zak Goodson’s peach at home to Corby Town was a solid runner-up, but Courey Grantham’s overhead kick away to Worcester City was a worthy winner.
The Golden Boot went to Player/Manager Ryan Beswick, who scored 14 league goals. Paddy Webb scored 13 in the league, despite missing three months, and also added another in the FA Trophy. Cain Noble and Zak Goodson also cracked double-figures, but narrowly missed out.
Clubman of the Year was presented to long-serving Kitman Jim Simpson, who was ebullient in his praise of the Manager and current squad of players. The CGS Admin Services Highlight of the Season was presented to Silvio Bello for his stoppage-time winner in the 3-2 victory away to Anstey Nomads.
Jasper Tetlow was named the Man of the Match Award winner for picking up the most nominations throughout the season. The 1284 Communications Supporter’s Player of the Season went to Cain Noble, following a hotly contested online poll.
Jack York picked up the SneakersER Young Player of the Season, narrowly beating Oscar Marshall as the two youngsters both secured places in the squad, making over 20 appearances each.
Captain Reece Fyfe was named Onyx Workwear Manager’s Player of the Season with the final award, the Escape Coalville Player’s Player of the Season awarded to Mason Frizelle. The evening was rounded off by Ian Stringer in conversation with local legend Luke Varney. The night provided a fitting end to a special season that few will ever forget.
