FIXTURE NEWS: Nomads Friendly Confirmed
Quorn Football Club have confirmed that they will host fierce rivals Anstey Nomads in a preseason friendly. The Nomads will make the short trip across Charnwood to the Stotto Stadium on Tuesday the 15th of July (19:45 KO) as both sides prepare for tough challenges ahead. Whilst the Reds are preparing for life in step three, Anstey have made a host of statement signings as they look to follow Quorn in promotion from the NPL Midlands.
The two sides met twice last season with an entertaining 0-0 draw on the August Bank Holiday (the only league match that Quorn failed to score in), with the Reds winning a memorable return match in late December. With both sides missing several key players, Quorn’s makeshift 11 took a 2-0 lead with goals from Cain Noble and Luca Alonzi. Anstey pulled one back in the 70th minute through Jordan Annable, and when Kyle Tomlin equalised in the 87th minute it looked as though the hosts would snatch a point, only for Silvio Bello to win it for the Reds with a 96th minute header.
There were three meetings in the previous season with both regular season matches ending in draws, however, Anstey won the playoff semi-final 3-1. That brought a measure of balance to the rivalry following Quorn’s dramatic last second winner in the final match of the previous season, as both teams secured promotion from step five.
The friendly will also mark a swift return to the Stotto Stadium for Courey Grantham, after the popular forward departed Farley Way for Anstey this summer. Keep an eye on the website and social media channels for ticket details closer to the date.
