SQUAD NEWS: Ethan Bojang Joins Reds

Quorn Football Club have confirmed the signing of Pontefract Collieries midfielder Ethan Bojang.

The Yorkshireman, who represented Gambia at Under 20s level, was born and raised in Pontefract, where he got into football at Primary School. Working his way through the Academy at Doncaster Rovers, Bojang went on to captain the U18s at the Keepmoat Stadium.

After leaving Donny, Ethan joined Peterborough United, where he starred in the U23s for the Posh. After a loan spell with Spalding United, Bojang left London Road and joined Gainsborough Trinity, before spells with Stocksbridge Park Steels, Bradford ( Park Avenue ) and Lincoln United. Ethan made 17 appearances for the Whites, winning several Man of the Match awards in his time at Ashby Avenue, before ending the season at Pontefract Collieries, who missed out on the playoffs by a single point.

Bojang’s career highlight, so far, however came in Mauritania, where he helped Gambia to a third placed finish in the U20s AFCON in 2021. A 2-1 win in the final group match of the tournament, against a Ghana squad that included Abdul Fatawu, saw the Young Scorpions into the knockout stages.

A 3-0 victory over the Central African Republic saw Gambia into the semi-finals, but this time Ghana got the better of them, winning 1-0. A 4-2 penalty shootout win over Tunisia secured the bronze medal. That Tunisian side included Norwich City midfielder, Anis Ben Slimane, who is currently representing the Eagles of Carthage at the FIFA World Cup.

“I loved the Gaffa’s enthusiasm to bring me in” said Bojang when asked about signing for the Reds. “I think he can help me kick on and push me to a new level. This season I’m hoping to play football with a smile on my face, reach double digits for goals and assists and help Quorn finish as high as possible in the table.”

“Long term I’m just wanting to take each season as it comes, become a mainstay in the team and kick on. I’m looking forward to making Quorn my new home and helping establish the club In the Northern Premier League. I want to give the fans something to talk about in the clubhouse after the match.”

Welcome to Farley Way Ethan.
