REPORT: Quorn 1-0 AFC Sudbury

By James Kendrick

Simeon Cobourne scored early on to help Quorn to a 1-0 win against AFC Sudbury.

The result keeps Quorn in touching distance of the playoffs while AFC Sudbury are all but relegated as they drop to the bottom of the league.

The best of the action came as early as the fourth minute when Ryan Beswick played a quick free kick into the box and Cobourne rounded the keeper to make it 1-0.

Sudbury could have been level within a minute as they forced Adam Harrison into a fantastic one handed stop from the edge of the box.

After that the game became quite a difficult watch as neither side managed to carve out many clear cut chances.

Quorn were boosted by the return of Luke Cox in this game who played his first game since getting injured in December and he was at the heart of a lot of his sides build up play with long diagonal balls up to the wide men to try and build an attack.

In the second half, the game was affected by a number of substitutions that disrupted the flow and the little momentum that there was.

As the game wore on, Sudbury will feel like they could have grabbed an equaliser with Kyran Clements going closest as he hit the bar with a header.

But Quorn held onto to ensure they extended their run of home games without conceding to six with just four games of the season left while AFC Sudbury are all but certain to playing Step 4 football next season.
