Quorn welcome newly promoted side Redcar Athletic for the first time in what The Reds hope can be the first points of the season.
Quorn’s Form:
After a narrow 2-1 loss away from home against Avro FC on opening day, The Reds welcomed Cleethorpes Town, for the very first time, to Farley Way. Unfortunately, it was a night to forget for The Methodists, with The Owls scoring five without reply.
The Opposition:
Redcar come to Leicestershire with an unbeaten record so far in the Northern Premier League. The Steelmen started on opening day with a solid 0-0 draw against former football league side Bury. They followed that up with a decent 1-0 win away to Workington AFC. During these two games, Redcar have extended a Steel Curtain across the back with successive clean sheets. The Steelmen had an impressive campaign, finishing last season with the NPL East title secured by 17 points, with a staggering 105 point finish.
Head-to-Head:
The Reds have never faced The Steelmen before and will welcome the team from Teeside for the very first time.
One-to-Watch:
One player who has been successful during his time with The Steelmen is 30-year-old tenacious forward Bradley Fewster. Fewster has scored an impressive 44 league goals in 76 league games so far for Athletic, including a stoppage time winner at Wrkington on Tuesday. Fewster came through Middlesborough’s academy and had loan spells with the likes of Preston North End, York City and Hartlepool. After his release from The Boro’, the forward then went onto to have spells at Spennymoor Town, Blyth Spartans and Whitby Town before his current, and most successful, spell with the Steelmen.
