Quorn turn to their fans one more time this season as the Reds aim to get a result in what could prove to be the most important league game this season. Needham Market, who are coming off the back of a midweek win against ten-man Stourbridge, travel to Farley Way.
Quorn’s Form:
Ryan Beswick’s men have turned Quorn’s ground into a fortress in recent weeks, with the help of some impressive attendances in the run into the end of the season. The Methodists have lost just one of their last seven games played in the Red’s ground. This loss ended the run of six wins at home, where they hadn’t conceded, and came last time out against Leiston. The Reds put up a good fight against the Suffolk club but lost 2-1 thanks to a late goal from Ronnie Blois as Quorn went searching for a winner and were caught on the break. Despite a recent dip in form, the Reds still have an outside shot at the playoffs, and only a win will be good enough to keep them in the running for a top five place.
The Opposition:
Needham Market were able to get the better of Stourbridge in their most recent fixture, thanks to a first-half goal from centre back Kieran Morphew. This win made it four in a row for the Marketmen. The last time Needham lost was back in March, losing by a single late goal against Worcester City. Since then, Needham picked up consecutive wins against Bromsgrove Sporting (1-0), AFC Sudbury (1-3), Barwell (2-1), and the aforementioned victory against Stourbridge. This has shot Needham up to fourth place, five points ahead of the Reds.
Head-to-Head:
Quorn had an impressive victory in the one previous fixture between the two sides. A 3-0 win earlier this season saw the Methodists take all the points home after their visit to Bloomfields. Zak Goodson, Zhani Burgess and Simeon Cobourne scored a goal each in the victory.
One-to-watch:
Luke Ingram has been impressive this season, scoring sixteen goals as he has led his side into the playoffs. Ingram is definitely a legend at Needham since joining in 2013, and will have to be watched closely by Quorn defenders to ensure he is not the difference-maker on Saturday.
