Quorn look to bounce back following a defeat away against Stamford on Easter Monday. A win could potentially see the Reds move back into the top five, as Ryan Beswick’s side sit just a point outside the playoff places.
Quorn’s Form:
The Reds have been on an absolute roll at home as of late, Winning the last six games, including the County Cup, played at Farley Way without conceding a single goal. The Reds have truly made the ground a fortress in the run-in to the end of an historic season for the club, in no part thanks to a record average attendance at the ground, sitting at just over 400, a far cry from the number just three years ago with the club in step five.
Unfortunately, the Reds form away from home has dropped off over the same period, seeing Quorn take just one point away from home in the past three matches. With back-to-back home games to come, the Reds will be looking to keep that incredible Farley Way run going to see if they can take the playoff fight to the final game of the season.
The Opposition:
Leiston has been able to meet the expectations set by last season in this campaign. As they currently sit firmly in mid-table. They travel to Quorn having lost their last two away fixtures, a 2-0 loss against Stamford, and a brutal 4-1 loss against Redditch United. The following match at home did not go much better for Leiston as they lost 1-3 to Bury Town. The Blues' last win was against Banbury United; a single goal scored by Adam Mills, formerly of Needham Market, was the decider in the game. Leiston’s last away victory came back in February, with a superb performance against AFC Sudbury that saw the Blues win 3-0.
Overall, Leiston have the 10th best record on their travels in the league, winning seven, drawing four and losing seven of their 18 trips away from Victory Road. The Blues have scored 27 goals in those trips, conceding 30.
Head-to-Head:
The two sides have only clashed once in recorded history, with Quorn getting the better of Leiston away from home earlier this season. In September of last year, Zak Goodson, Deen Master, and Simeon Cobourne scored the goals to win it for Quorn in a 3–2 triumph at Victory Road in on of the most entertaining matches of the season.
One-to-watch:
Ryan Jarvis is a name that may be familiar to those across English Football. The 39-year-old, who now plays his football at Leiston, has played in the Premier League for Norwich. During his brief stint in the Premier League, he scored a spectacular goal in a 2-1 defeat against Liverpool in January of 2005. He has been able to score two goals for Leiston so far this season but was an unused substitute in the Easter Monday defeat.
