Quorn look to continue a great run of form after getting a point away to the league leaders last time out.
Quorn’s Form:
It’s been a good time of late for Beswick’s men as they have gone six games without a loss in the league, their best run of form so far this season. The Methodists have also managed to score an impressive fifteen goals in these last six games, including two 4-3 thrillers against Alvechurch and Bishop’s Stortford.
Last time out showed the Reds’ resilience as they brought themselves back into the game after conceding in only the second minute against Spalding United. Zak Goodson levelled the scoreline in the 40th minute, to make it seven goals in the league so far for the attacker. These recent results have left Quorn exceeding preseason expectations currently sitting in third place.
The Opposition:
It has been a tougher time for Kettering Town so far this season, winning two of their last ten games in the league. This did not stop them from a 3-0 thrashing of Northampton ON Chenecks in their last match as they travelled there for the Northamptonshire Senior Cup. Ishmeal Fatagjo was able to net twice, two minutes apart, in that match after coming on as a substitute.
Kettering had just under 1000 fans come to their last league game, a goalless draw against St Ives Town. The game had plenty of action and chances from both sides, but neither were able to find a winner. Prior to this The Poppies lost a game at home to Needham Market by just one goal, with their most recent win in the league coming on the 21st of October verses Banbury United. Town scored two goals in that match.
Kettering Town finished second in the Southern Premier League Central last season and, having recently changed Manager, bringing in Liam McDonald, will expect to be up towards the top end of the table again soon.
Head-to-head:
Quorn have only played Kettering once before and that match will be recent in the memory for fans, having only taken place in September.
That for an FA Cup second qualifying round match at the Stotto Stadium finished 2-1 to the home side with Simeon Cobourne and Marvellous Onabirekhanlen netting the goals for the Methodists. Eddie Oppong was able to give Kettering fans something to be happy about as he scored in the final minutes of the game to take away a clean sheet for Quorn.
One to Watch:
Andi Thanoj is a player Quorn fans should look for on the pitch. He previously played for Leicestershire rivals Coalville Town. Thanoj is best known for his time at Boston United where he was part of the team that got into the National League North Playoffs. The Midfielder also represented Albania at Under 21 level.
