The Methodists go to Bromsgrove in the hopes of completing the double over them this season.
Quorn’s Form:
Beswick’s team haven’t quite been able to maintain their early season pace in recent weeks, with a current run that has seen them winless in five games, including three losses. The Reds have been limited to five goals over that stretch, whilst conceding an uncharacteristic ten. Losses came against Kettering Town, Banbury United and Harborough Town consecutively, but included impressive draws away to two of the leagues’ title contenders, Spalding United and Real Bedford.
The Pirates proved to be tough opposition for the Methodists in their most recent outing, scoring within the first ten minutes of the game. The match at McMullen Park was played during a constant deluge as driving rain made for difficult conditions. Despite the early setback, Zak Goodson helped Quorn to a deserved draw with his 11th goal of the season.
The Opposition:
Three goals against Kettering Town delighted fans of Bromsgrove Sporting last time out, this joy was only heightened by them suffering the same result in their prior game verses Banbury United.
This was a reflection of Bromsgrove Sporting’s season, currently placed in thirteenth. The Rouslers currently have seven wins and seven losses in the league. Only scoring three more goals that they have conceded.
Bromsgrove have been able to manage wins in three of their last five, these coming against Leiston, Royston and obviously the previously mentioned 3-0 thumping of Kettering Town.
Head-to-Head:
Quorn have played Bromsgrove earlier this season at Farley Way, winning that game 2-1 thanks to a late goal from Billy Kee. Previously the two clubs have played each other twice in the Midlands Football Alliance back in 2017. Quorn lost both these games, 4-0 at home and then 4-1 in the return fixture.
One to Watch:
Top Goal scorer Luke Benbow is my pick for a player who all fans should keep an eye on. The non-league veteran scored last time out against Kettering and has so far picked up four goals this season. The thirty-four-year-old striker has previously played for Rushall Olympic, before moving to Bromsgrove in the summer. Other clubs in a prolific career include Stourbridge and Nuneaton Borough.

Exit the M42 at Junction 1, turning south onto the A38. After half a mile turn right at the first set of traffic lights onto the Birmingham Road. Go across the mini roundabout with the Crabmill Pub on the left. After about 100m there is a turning on the right (signpost on the left “Football Ground”) for the players’ car park between two rows of terraced houses. Entry to the ground and the car park for officials is another 100m.
Parking Advice from Bromsgrove Sporting:
Council Car Parks
The Stourbridge Road Car Park (entrance from Stourbridge Road, B61 0AB) is where we would encourage visiting fans to park though it can get full for busy matches.
The next Council car parks are in town on Parkside (other side of the traffic lights), Market Street (Asda - pay on foot) and Recreation Road, all of which are within easy walking distance.
School Drive is slightly further to walk but usually more spaces are available (B60 1GL).
Pay and display parking is £1 or £1-30 per hour depending on which car park you use. CCTV is an advantage but beware of the Council’s strict enforcement as well as regular checks if you want to avoid a fine. Parking is free for up to 30 minutes and after 6:00 p.m.
Rear of Mint Lounge
This is private land and no responsibility of Bromsgrove Sporting and we would ask visitors not to park here.
On-Road Parking
Spaces are sometimes available on Birmingham Road but avoid parking on yellow lines as civil enforcement has recently been stepped up. Also please do not park in front of the houses on the service road of the roadway entrance at the Rear Car Park. Blackmore Lane is access for residents and visitors only. Victoria Road is also worth avoiding but if you do, please do not double-park or block drive entrances.
Parkside Medical Practice (B61 0AE)
The car park is available to members of the public on Saturday from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. and costs just £1 all day. Entrance is on the Stourbridge Road left just past Bromsgrove Council House.
Bromsgrove Retail Park (Lidl, Pure Gym) and Aldi site
Opposite and next to the Victoria Ground. This is private land and both sites have time limits after which they will impose fines. We do not recommend parking here.
Shenstone Close
If you turn on to Burcot Lane at The Crabmill then immediately right down Shenstone Close, there are a number of spaces at the rear of All Saints Church Hall. Walk down Shenstone Close then right at Blackmore Lane brings you out at the Hop Pole. A bit further to walk but convenient for a quick getaway up the Birmingham Road.
The Artrix/HoW College Car Park
It you are heading up or down the A38 then this car park is quite convenient. Access is by the Premier Inn/Brewers Fayre Guild restaurant on Slideslow Drive. Park near the Artrix (post code B60 1GN), walk down the pathway at the end of School Drive and you come out at the Hop Pole. About 10 minutes from the ground.
However there are charges and these are displayed on the notice board along with methods of payment.
