Farley Way gets a visit from Alvechurch in Quorn’s final game of January as both sides have something to fight for this week in the Southern Premier Central Division.
Quorn’s Form:
After a period of poor results, the Methodists aim to build on a good win away against Royston Town. The Reds were able to manage the game well after going a goal up early on, before scoring a second with just over half an hour to go. Adam Harrison would have been gutted to lose the clean sheet thanks to a penalty for the Crows in the final minutes, but the ‘keepers’ early heroics helped the Reds earn all three points.
It was the first victory of 2026 for Quorn, having a run without a league win since a 3-2 triumph against Redditch United early in December. The poorest result of the winless run was a 5-0 thrashing at the hands of a relegation-battlers Stourbridge.
Despite that run, the result against Royston saw Quorn climb back into the playoff places.
The Opposition:
Alvechuch are winless in 2026 so far, currently on a five-game winless run. A comfortable 2-0 home win against Worcester City was the last time The Church were able to get three points in the league.
Last time out was a tough 3-1 loss against Bury Town. Young striker Kieran Wakefield, formerly of Birmingham City’s academy, scored the only goal for the hosts in what was a disappointing day at Lye Meadow as Town scored a quickfire treble shortly after.
Alvechurch sit just one place above the relegation zone, so will come to Quorn with fierce fight and desire to put some distance between themselves and the bottom four.
Head-to-Head:
Back in October, Quorn travelled to Lye Meadow and were able to beat The Church in a thrilling 3-4 victory for the away side. Simeon Cobourne proved his ruthlessness in front of goal, putting two past the home team, both goals coming within five minutes of each other.
One to watch:
Kieran Wakefield has been in tremendous form for Alvechurch this season, scoring four times, a sixth of all goals scored in the league by the Church.
Coming through at the nearby Birmingham City Academy, Wakefield is forging a name for himself in Non-League football, but also in the minds of Quorn fans, scoring against the Methodists earlier in the season.
