After a long break between fixtures Quorn came back into Southern League Premier Central action with a game away to Alvechurch where the Methodists will no doubt aim to come back with a win.

Quorn’s Form:

The Methodists form has been up and down this season, being very unlucky last time out to lose to Corby Town on penalties after a hard fought 2-2 draw during the FA Trophy match. Quorn have looked really good even in defeat this season creating plenty of chances and in defending, with the three defeats in the league coming from only one goal deficits. These losses include a 1-2 loss to Royston Town, a late defeat to Harborough Town 1-0 and a 1-0 loss at home to Barwell.

Since that first loss to Barwell, the Methodists have been able to beat some impressive opponents such as Kettering Town in the FA Cup. The impressive start to the season that saw the Reds go undefeated until the Bank Holiday Leicestershire rivalry match against Barwell has meant that Quorn, despite lacking consistency in recent weeks, have been able to maintain a very impressive sixth place in Southern Premier Central Division after only being promoted last season.

The Opposition:

Last time out Alvechurch picked up an impressive 2-0 win against Kettering Town. 643 fans saw the Church pick up two goals in the final minutes of the game with a penalty in the 89th minute tucked away by Tope Obadeyi, Football League Trophy winner with Chesterfield, which was then followed up by a goal from Thomas Conteh to seal the game.

Alvechurch have been enjoying a good season so far being second in the league only losing two games. Both of these league defeats have come in front of their own fans, giving them one of the poorer home records for sides in the top six in the league.

Alvechurch are currently five unbeaten, four wins and one draw since their last defeat against Stratford Town 1-2. In this run Alvechurch have scored seven goals, three coming in a thrashing of Royston Town. This was followed by consecutive 1-0 wins against Halesowen Town at home and Bury Town away. The only dropped points in this period came from a 0-0 draw against Worcester City.

Head-to-Head:

The most recent game between The Methodists and The Church was a friendly in the summer of 2024, which saw Quorn take home the bragging rights for the time being as they beat Alvechurch 2-1.

Before this the last competitive fixtures for the two sides was all the way back in the 2016/17 season. Alvechurch did the double over Quorn that season scoring five goals in both games. The last time Quorn beat Alvechurch in a competitive fixture was in November 2014 winning 4-1 at home.

One to watch:

Tope Obadeyi is a real threat against Quorn on Tuesday, scoring last time out- Obadeyi is a name well known across the country. Winning the Football league trophy with Chesterfield is just a highlight of what has been an illustrious career for the former England under 20s international. Obadeyi will be surely proud of his three Premier League appearances for Bolton Wanderers. He has made 112 appearances in England’s top four divisions.
