NEWS: Beswick Pens Two Year Deal

Quorn Football Club have announced that Player/Manager Ryan Beswick has put pen to paper on a two-year deal that will see him lead the club into step three next season. Speculation had been rife that the highly sought-after Beswick could leave the Reds after an incredible rookie season in the hotseat, but the Golden Boot winner has decided to extend his stay at The Stotto Stadium.

Beswick initially joined Quorn in the summer of 2023, departing Nuneaton Borough to play closer to his Barrow-Upon-Soar home. Named Captain by then Manager Richard Lavery, injury scuppered the start of the midfielder’s 23/24 season, but a strong second half of the campaign saw him finish the year with seven goals in 25 appearances.

After a period that saw two resignations in three months, despite a playoff campaign, Beswick took on the mantle of Player/Manager in May 2024 to steady the ship. A revamped squad improved the culture at the club as Ryan led the club to their best league performance, winning the Pitching In Northern Premier League Midlands Division with six games to spare.

2025/26 will see the village side take part in step three football for the first time in their 101-year history, with a place in the Southern League Premier Central Division confirmed. “It’s a great challenge and we can’t wait to get started” stated Beswick. “We’re under no illusions though, we’ll have one of, if not the lowest, budget in the league, but we’re not planning just to take part, we aim to compete.”

“We won a lot of games last season, and I had a great group, which made it easier, but we won’t have it all our own way this time around, so it will be interesting to see how we respond to adversity. I have a great group coming back though, and with a few additions to come, I think we’ll be okay.”

General Manager Liam Turner was delighted to get the deal done. “Ryan showed last season what a great Manager he is already, and we think he’s only going to get better with experience, so we’re thrilled that he was happy to commit to us for another two years, despite some attractive offers from elsewhere.”
