FA CUP: Reds Face Trip to Enfield Town
Quorn’s reward for defeating Kettering Town at home in the second qualifying round of the Emirates FA Cup is a trip to National League South side Enfield Town.
The Towners play at step two in the non-league pyramid, a level above Quorn. Formed in 2001, Enfield Town have risen quickly through the pyramid, achieving promotion to their current level through the playoffs in 2024. The fan-owned club finished 19th last season, avoiding relegation by just three points. This season has seen them struggle once again, currently sitting in 20th place after eight matches. Town do have a stingy defence though, conceding just eight times in those first eight fixtures.
Through four league games at their Queen Elizabeth II home, Enfield Town have drawn one & lost three, failing to score, however, they beat their derby rivals Enfield 3-0 away from home on Saturday to progress to this stage. In all competitions Town have lost just one of their previous four matches.
Quorn have to focus on the league with two home games (Royston Town 3pm on the 20th, Bromsgrove Sporting 7.45pm on the 23rd) coming up between now and the next round of the cup, which is likely to be played at 3pm on the 27th of September.
